Origami, the Christmas tree
This fir tree is made up of four different parts. To begin, you must fold each part using the technique shown in steps 1 - 5. Next place the four folded papers on the table, the open sides turned toward you.
You will need:
Four pieces of paper of different dimensions: 1. 65 x 65 cm / 2. 50 x 50 cm / 3. 35 x 35 cm / 4. 20 x 20 cm
1. Place the paper flat. Fold the lower right corner to meet the upper left corner. Make sure the crease is visible and unfold.
2. Fold the lower left corner to meet the upper right corner and unfold. Turn the paper over, fold it in two from right to left. Unfold.
3. Fold the paper in two, the bottom toward the top. Hold the paper at the bottom, while placing your fingers on each side, under the diagonal folds.
4. Bring your fingers together so as to make the diagonal folds coincide at the middle. You should have four triangles.
5. Fold the front flap to the right and the rear one to the left. Flatten the paper well to complete this step.
6. Fold the base section in two, then unfold it. Turn the paper upside down and repeat this on the other side.
7. Lift the left flap and fold the bottom right tip to the right corner, as in the illustration.
8. Hold the right layers firmly and flatten the little triangle underneath to form a shelf.
9. Fold the little triangle onto itself by sliding it under the upper flap, as in the illustration.
10. Lift the right flap and move the bottom of the flap toward the right corner of the paper. Then repeat steps 8 and 9.
11. With the paper flat on the table, lift the left flap. The right-hand shelves are slightly flattened.
12. Lift the bottom left corner of the shelf and fold it on the left corner of the paper, as shown.
13. Flatten the triangle and insert it under the layers, as in step 9. You should now have three shelves.
14. Turn the paper upside-down, with the bottom of the shelves toward you. Fold the right tip on the upper corner.
15. Flatten the flap that you made in step 14 and insert it under the paper layers on the left.
16. Make the other three parts (steps 6-16), then assemble them by inserting the edges of one into the pockets of the next.
